Inspired by an abandoned railroad substation near Missoula, Montana, Substation 9 captures the eerie resonance of this once vital but now desolate space. Composed for solo cello and SuperCollider, the piece uses real-time digital signal processing to create a resonant and manipulated signal. With a pre-programmed foot-switch, the performer navigates between playing the cello and controlling the code.
