Matthew Knight is a composer, pianist, and educator whose work bridges contemporary classical music and multimedia art. His compositions blend traditional techniques with modern innovation, expanding the boundaries of genre and medium.
Holding degrees in Composition, Media Arts, and Piano Performance from the University of Montana, Matthew integrates music and technology into a unique artistic voice. His works, described as “bold and cohesive,” have been performed by chamber ensembles, soloists, and orchestras, as well as featured in film scores and interactive installations.
As a pianist, Matthew won the University of Montana’s Concerto Aria Competition in 2020 as a freshman and later received the prestigious Presser Scholar Award for musical achievements at the undergraduate level. His compositions have also earned recognition, including being awarded 3rd place in the MTNA National Composition Competition for his piano trio, Shifting Spaces.
Matthew’s work celebrates the intersection of art and technology, creating immersive soundscapes that resonate with listeners. Whether composing, performing, or teaching, he brings creativity and thoughtful energy to every endeavor.
